Forest Stewardship Camp aims to empower local youth to become proactive environmental volunteers by equipping them with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in environmental protection, conservation efforts, and grassroots community engagement. The programme is scheduled to take place at D’Lereng Adventure Camp & Sekolah Hutan Semaian Rimba, Ulu Chepor, Ipoh during weekends (2 days 1 night).
The camp integrates classroom-based theoretical learning and outdoor experiential activities. Key components include an introduction to land, forest, and environmental governance; understanding current environmental issues; community dialogue and group sharing sessions; as well as outdoor activities such as forest trekking, forest nursery management, tree seedling propagation, and community clean-up initiatives.
This programme is fully aligned with ESG goals and sustainability initiatives of corporates, particularly in strengthening youth participation as environmental volunteers and future leaders in sustainable natural resource management.

Objectives
i. Organizing a two-day, one-night Youth Forest Stewardship Camp in Ulu Chepor Forest, Ipoh, Perak, involving 20 youth participants from school, college, and university environmental clubs, as well as young members of the public.
ii. Conducting indoor (theoretical) activities with youth participants, including environmental leadership training, group workshops on biodiversity importance, understanding environmental issues, and promoting critical thinking to plan future awareness campaigns.
iii. Carrying out outdoor (practical) activities such as jungle trekking, forest interpretation, ecosystem studies, flora and fauna observation, citizen science through river quality testing, and effective forest conservation techniques through nursery seedling activities.
iv. Fostering leadership, teamwork, critical and creative thinking among youth participants in championing biodiversity and national environmental protection issues, enabling them to create positive community impact through awareness campaigns and equipping them with new skills and knowledge in conservation, reforestation, water quality management, and biodiversity protection.
v. Encouraging corporate sector involvement in high-impact initiatives that support ESG, CSR, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically: SDG 4: Quality Education through informal environmental literacy and experiential learning; SDG 13: Climate Action by raising climate change awareness and protecting ecosystems for mitigation and adaptation; SDG 15: Life on Land through biodiversity conservation, forest ecosystem restoration, and reforestation; SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by engaging local communities in environmental stewardship and governance; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by building networks among NGOs, youth, communities, and private agencies.
Programme Activities

The programme combines theoretical learning and practical activities to enhance participants’ understanding of forest conservation. Theoretical sessions will cover Malaysian tropical rainforest types and their importance, key conservation challenges, development and deforestation impacts, Orang Asli traditional knowledge, and forest governance frameworks in Malaysia.
Practical components include guided forest trekking with ecological interpretation at designated checkpoints, focusing on forest structure, geology, water catchment functions, biodiversity, and forest–community relationships. Participants will also take part in hands-on forest nursery activities, including soil preparation, seed germination, and seedling transplantation, as well as a community clean-up and “gotong-royong” activity to promote collective environmental stewardship.

Expected Outputs and Outcomes
Immediate Outputs
The program delivers tangible short-term results, including the direct engagement of 30 youth participants aged 15–35 in a 2-day, 1-night camp. Participants undergo structured theoretical sessions—covering rainforest ecology, conservation challenges, leadership training, and campaign planning—and practical field activities such as jungle trekking, river quality testing, and nursery work. All activities are fully documented, and a dedicated educational module on sustainable forestry and climate action is developed and delivered.
Educational & Behavioral Outcomes
The camp fosters significant increased environmental awareness and knowledge among youth, cultivating a deeper appreciation for natural ecosystems. It also builds youth leadership in conservation, equipping participants with critical thinking, teamwork, and advocacy skills. These experiences encourage long-term behavioral change toward sustainability, inspiring participants to adopt more environmentally responsible lifestyles and assume proactive roles in community conservation efforts.
Strategic Social & Environmental Impact
Sponsorship supports tangible contributions to multiple UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Quality Education (SDG 4), Climate Action (SDG 13), Life on Land (SDG 15), Sustainable Cities (SDG 11), and Partnerships (SDG 17). The program also strengthens multi-stakeholder collaboration by building networks between NGOs, youth, local and indigenous communities, government agencies, and the private sector, fostering shared responsibility for forest stewardship.
Corporate Reputation & ESG Benefits
Sponsorship enhances corporate reputation and demonstrates ESG commitment by showcasing tangible action in environmental conservation, social inclusion, and governance transparency. It provides substantial commercial value and sustainable publicity through logo placement, speaking opportunities, media coverage, and authentic marketing content generated from employee participation. The initiative also serves as verifiable content for annual sustainability reporting, supporting compliance with global ESG standards and communicating meaningful impact to stakeholders.
Organizational & Community Value
Employee involvement boosts staff development and morale through volunteerism, enhancing teamwork, leadership, and connection to corporate sustainability values. Furthermore, the partnership delivers lasting social and community impact by empowering local youth, strengthening community relations, and supporting the preservation of traditional indigenous knowledge. This represents a strategic long-term investment in building a respected, ethical brand legacy while contributing meaningfully to national sustainable development goals..
Programme Budget / Cost:
The total cost of organising one (1) programme amounts to RM 26,600.00, which includes expenses for programme kits, venue rental, accommodation, food and beverages, forest activities, transportation, nursery-site activities, facilitator fees, speaker honoraria, and administrative costs.

Conclusion
In view of the above, we respectfully seek the consideration and support of stakeholders for the implementation of this programme. This programme will directly support our initiatives to empower youth as key stakeholders in environmental conservation by fostering environmental literacy, practical conservation skills, and community engagement. Through activities such as ecological education, forest monitoring, nursery management, tree planting, and collaboration with Orang Asli communities, the programme contributes meaningfully to national efforts in biodiversity conservation, climate action, and sustainable forest governance. By nurturing informed, skilled, and committed youth leaders, this initiative will help strengthen public participation in environmental stewardship and ensure the long-term sustainability of Malaysia’s natural resources.
